{X>3 HOORAY! Items will be posted next week sometime, or a little sooner if I make any Etsy sales. Thank you everyone for taking part, keep a look out for future giveaway events!
HAMSTER! This one is missing my furry friend, Dumpers, who is now living a life of luxury on a family estate in the English countryside. I was looking around at some videos of fuzzy animals to help me feel less lonesome, and I saw some really funny little hamsters. {X>3 I'd love to adopt a little hammy! Maybe if anybody is feeling generous, you can help me just a little by either giving me your advice and ideas, or wee little paypal dough-nations to raven8dragon@yahoo.co.uk, or even buying something from my Etsy at [link]. I already found a perfect cage, a really big one, which is on sale for £35. Hammy him/herself won't cost much, and the bedding, food and accessories I can buy when I go shopping next week. {8>B Thank you for reading, peeps! I'll keep you updated, maybe even with photos! SQUEE!
Goodbad,

my partner has a dwarf hamster, and he is very cute and tame
i disagree with pewtercat about a hamsterball being a good thing though, in germany it is listed as animal torture paraphernalia, because the hamster cannot chose when to get in or out of the ball on its own(which means stress), and because it is not a natural way of moving for the hamster. it is better to get a hamster wheel (the diameter of the wheel should be at least 18 cm for dwarf hamsters, and even bigger for gold hamsters, to make sure they do not have to bend their back so much when running.the running surface and back should have a closed surface, no bars, to avoid that the hamster gets caught or injured in the gaps) the one we bought was pretty expensive, but higgs(the hamster) uses it excessively
I absolutely agree with you on hamster balls. I never liked them, for the same reason! Poor ham should have a play pen, filled with all kinds of suprise enrichment, like fruit twigs, chew toys, salad leaves...that's what the lil guy need to feel alive! {8>3 I'm buying a 'flying saucer' running wheel for ham, it has no spoke in the middle, so even a chunky syrian can go potty on it without any back trouble. They look cool too! I'm also going to buy a three storey cage that is 50 X 35 cm, so that ham has loads of room and places to sleep and hide.
Sounds like you have a great knowledge of animal keeping, I might come and ask you some questions in the future, if that's okay. {X>3
i work at the cat department of an animal shelter, so i have to know some basics for my job.
i informed myself about proper hamster keeping because my partner wanted one...but i did not want to buy it at a pet shop. shortly after that, we got a dwarf hamster into the shelter, and i took it home
it is a very umcomplicated animal to keep (if you have no problem with the sound of the wheel when he runs at night XD) and very clean. we only have to fully clean the cage once a month right now.
